Q&A WITH FLORIAN
How did you get into music?
I come from a musical family. My parents met and fell in love in a band. The band rehearsals always took place in the rehearsal room on our property, about 10 meters from my children's room. So I often had self-made music in my ear. In addition, my brother and I could always help ourselves to the instruments in the band room. It was only a matter of time before I wanted to take a closer look at an instrument. In my case that was a guitar. My brother took the drums.
What favorite bands did you have when you were young?
At the age of 10, I was influenced in two ways. One of my great cousins gave me my first record, Fighting the world by Manowar, and a girl introduced me to the wonderful world of Guns n`Roses, Iron Maiden and so on.
After that I listened to a lot of Megadeth, Type o Negative, Amorphis and of course Metallica and Nightwish. Unlike some, I was happy about the commercial success of these good bands. It's always nice to see when people can earn money with their passion.
What instruments are you playing?
I learned to play the guitar. I can play some bass and drums, but it's better not to listen to that. :-)
What do you do when you are not making music?
My daily work takes up a large part of my time. Otherwise I still love to play basketball (even after about 30 years), to really watch every game of the Denver Nuggets and to devote myself to my old hobby of role-playing.
What is your favorite food?
When it comes to food, I'm very easy to get excited about. For example, I like cheese pide, pierogi, Chinese and Indian food, but also traditional German cuisine. I especially like the roast like my grandma made it.
Do you have a favorite cocktail?
I'm like the dude in that matter. I really like the white russian.
What is your favorite movie?
I like fantasy and science fiction because I think our world is largely sick. I don't want to be constantly reminded of this in movies that are too realistic. At the top for me are Star Wars episodes 4 to 6 and the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Do you have an idol?
Of course, who doesn't? I would like to have only a fraction of the talent of John Williams, Peter Steele or Tuomas Holopainen. Their ability to convey music, generate moods and take us on a journey is really more than just enviable.
What is your favorite song of UNSOULICITED?
They are all my babies. :-D So I don't want to choose between them.
If you were an animal. What would it be?
Probably a family dog. I like to have my loved ones around me and I can
look very faithfully. ;-)
